Default remote keyless receiver test on 95 z28

I have a 95 z. The remote keyless entry is acting up. I've cleaned the contacts and changed the batteries in the remote. No change. I've done a search and found lots on info on programming a new remote, but nothing on how to test the receiver. I know that to program the new remote you have to place a jumper between #4 and #8 on the data connector plug under the dash and this is supposed to cycle the locks and tell you that the receiver is now in program mode. If the receiver is no good will the locks still cycle when you place a jumper in the data connector? Is this even how you tell the receiver is good or not? Any help you guys can provide will be a big help!!!

Thanks------

Default Remote Keyless Entry

OK---I placed a jumper wire between the #4 and #8 pins. When the locks functioned they locked but did not unlock when the wire was inserted. Also, when that wire was in place the lock function worked from the remote. But, the unlock function and the rear hatch opening function did not work from the remote. Here's what I'm trying to fix: You can lock both the driver and passenger door; or, you can unlock the driver door from the remote. However, you can't unlock the passenger door (normally click twice to do this) or open the rear hatch from the remote. You can, however, open the rear hatch from the button inside the glove box; and, the door lock buttons work just fine on both doors. What do you guys think--Is the remote bad, or is the receiver bad, or something else????

Thanks!!!!!

Did you try to reprogram the system with your current key fobs? If not, try that first.

Default Remote Keyless Entry

Thanks for your responses--I did actually attempt to re-program the fob immediately after replacing the batteries. I have another question please: When I place the jumper wire in between #4 and #8 aren't the locks supposed to cycle by both locking and unlocking? Mine only attempted to lock when I placed the wire in the connector. Also, now the trunk release function is working intermittently, but most times when I push the button it does nothing. I'm wondering if the receiver is bad and possibly the remote also. I need to get a replacement receiver for a '95 z. Anyone got one? Hopefully working.

Thanks again!!
