Default Reading codes?

Hey guys, got a 95 z ob1 with ob2 plug. My car has been missing and hesitating quite a bit lately , as soon as it does my ses comes on. Been to every auto parts store in myrtle beach and no one can read it. It kinda acts like a bad opti but I replaced it about a year and half ago with an accel vented style. I don't want to spend a huge amount of money to figure out what's causing my light to come on, the only scanner I found that will work is the Autoxray for over $200. Is there a paper clip method on this setup to read the codes? Thanks for any input

Tell me about it. I don't even have a obd1 scanner, just obd2, makes me frustrated.

The paper clip method does not work on 94 & up GM cars.

call around to all your local parts stores to see if one has an obd1 scanner that you can use.
