opti question.HELP!
First, THANKS fellas for all the input and advise! MY PROJECT: I,m attempting to swap my 94z motor into my 96z, does anyone sell an engine harness adapter for plugging a 96z opti connector into the opti for the 94z?

would be best to take the front cover off the 96 motor and put it on the 94 motor. you will need to drill the center hole in the cam so shaft from 95-97 opti will go all the way in and replace the dowel with a longer one. will also need to transfer the reluctor and balancer hub from the 96. if you do not the crank sensor for your obd2 system will not be there and you will get a code. the harness from the 94 will plug into the 96 harness up on the passenger side of the intake. but like i said you will get a code without the crank sensor and will also lose some of the computers ability to diagnose the system.

I am not wanting to modify the cam and i'm not worried about tuning out the crankps I am going to send the cps to mad tuner or one of the guys you guys are always boasting about. I have driven the car for five years and never had an opti problem.if I do I might just add a vacuum kit.

the stock 94 harness should plug into your stock harness. they are the same. i have a 95-97 opti in my 93 and am using a stock 95-97 opti harness. the plug for your 96 should be a four pin plug just like the grey end on this 93 94 Optispark Distributor Wiring Harness LT1 | eBay

The added crank sensor is for additional misfire detection. Digging into the engine to change the timing cover and altering the cam is a lot of work to get rid of the code/check engine light. Getting it tuned out would be way easier.
