Default oil pan gasket and wideband question

94 fbody lt1: 1) do you have to lift the engine to replace oil pan gasket?
2) Is placing a O2 bung for a wideband at the Y-pipe just in front of the converter to far to read the drivers side bank?

To read a specific bank, the sensor has to be before the Y. After the Y, both banks are mixed together.

I guess putting separate bungs per bank is a better idea. Dangit, I should have thought of installing them when I had the exh pipe off. thanks
