Freon leaking past schrader valve, low side service port '93
Freon is leaking past the schrader valve on the low side service port on my '93 Camaro. I've already replaced the schrader valve so I assume that the inside of the fitting itself is scratched. The previous owner told me that he would add freon, as needed, to keep the a/c working. But he lived in San Diego and didn't use the a/c much.
My question is if the fiiting itself can be replaced without replacing the entire peice of tubing? It looks like the fitting and tubing it might be seperate pieces but I'm not sure?
Thanks
Robby

Have you tried a new cap?

The one that screws on top of the valve, like a tire valve cap but bigger.

Oh that cap. Well the cap isn't what seals or keeps the freon in the system. The cap justs keeps dirt and junk out of the valve. What I'm asking about is the fitting and the valve that the cap covers and if it is replaceable without replacing the entire line.
Thanks

A good cap will keep the freeon in even with a bad shrader valve. But for your question, you need to change the whole line as all pieces are welded toghether.
