Question High beams!

my high beams don't seem to want to come on. the bulbs and fuses are fine, but the lever doesnt want to engage the brights. every time i pull on it it nothing happens and it seems stiff. The weird part is is that I found that if i tilt my steering wheel all the way down, they will work fine. anybody know how to fix this?

I have the same problem, I had to put my finger and hold against the metal piece at the base then they would work. I dont know how you would fix it.

yeah i know it seems like one of those problems that would be way more work and money than its worth. I might just hook them up to a toggle switch

I have the same problem too. I find if you pull from the base, close to the wheel, it works every time. A toggle swich would be easier, but it just wouldn't look right!

Mine is just the opposite,if I have the tilt all the way down it won't switch sometimes, lift the wheel one click and it works fine.

the dimmer switch is connected to the blinker lever by a rod that goes down the column to just under the dash. the rod could be bent or dissconected.

Good pic craby, I'm going to look at mine and see if the rod is bent.

i havn;t seen a floor button in forever. but my guess is they thought people could kick it and damage the button making so they would have no headlights.. WHich is good, cause today, those buttons would be plastic in the floor.. wouldn't last 2 minutes...

Yeah,I hate not having a foot switch,my old GMC pickups both have it and I like it.
Having grown up on stick shifts I drive with my left hand mostly so it's a PITA to dim the lights in a corner when you have a tight grip on the wheel.
