want to improve my 99 LS1

want to improve my 99 LS1
I want to increase horsepower of my manual 99 LS1 Camaro
I already did the long tube headers and dual pipes all the way back.
I want to take the next step and was thinking cam, lifter, springs and pushrod kit. and a intake manifold with larger throttle body.
looking to build a weekend hot rod ,not a drag strip car.
what cam should i get. I do not know what specs cam I should get.
does anyone have any recommendations.
any help would be appreciated .
Thank you.

With cams it is give and take. What are you willing to give up on the low end to gain on the high end. I will try to find the full LS1 one cam thread but it may be dated at this point.
Your heads and intake match pretty well. There is not much gain in a new intake if you are running stock heads. If you do change you intake look at the newer stock intake like off a LS3. Most of the aftermarket intakes can add 30-50 HP to the top end but they will take away that much in the mid range.
Honestly the LS1 support here is not the greatest. If you search around some more you should be able to find a Huge LS1 community, Because there are so many people there are several tried and proven combinations that have very predictable results.
Example: Cam X, Valve spring Y, LS3 intake, Long tubes, tuned by Frost mail order = 385 WHP on a mustang dyno. Then there will be 5 other guys that have already done the same and they post their results.

Depends on if you are auto or stick. If your auto you are limited on the size of your cam until you increase your convertor stall.
with that being said don't waste your money on a intake or TB upgrade yet. You are on the right track with the cam and valve spring upgrade.

I hear one guy talking about ls6 heads from a vette with cam liffters an a few other things expects 100hp gain ,but yes go to ls1 tech where thats all they talk about ,the low end is said to handle 700 hp on an ls1

Most LS1 shortblocks with proper tuning will handle around 600-700hp....more than that and you are on borrowed time.
Bypass the LS6 heads...those were popular and decent many many years ago. AFR and Trickflow have much better heads. I did the Patriot 5.3 heads years ago on my NA LS1 with a large Thunder Racing cam and made 477hp to the wheels....killed my clutch and then through various upgrades ended up going the forced induction route.
Before you go spending money on heads cam or tuning determine where you want to be power wise. Honestly your LS1 is "begging" for a small forced induction package and decent tune which can be had for decent monies. If you have questions please pm me.
