Default starter help

I have to replace the starter in my 99 Z28. Is lowering the exhaust a pain in the neck on this car or is it not to bad? Does anybody know how hard it is, to take out if you're doing it on the ground? Does a 99 require the exhaust to come down? Any advice to make this easier would be greatly appreciated. Thnx

Does the car have aftermarket headers? I have a 98 Trans Am and the starter is fairly easy to remove. No stock exhaust-moving necessary. Basically, you remove the two bolts at the block and drop the starter straight down.

yes my exhaust is 100% stock. However the manual does say an exhaust pipe does have to come down that's why I was asking. Thnx.it's cold in nj so this won't be fun. I hope the solenoid wires have enough room for me to unspin the bolts while its out.

Lowering the exhaust pipe would probably get in the way of the starter removal, not help. I do see that step in the manual. Must be an error.
Here are two photos of the removal of mine. The small wire can be removed while the starter is hanging by the larger wire. The battery wire's terminal has a locating tang on it so try to get that properly positioned when putting it back or it may short to the small wire terminal and the starter will run anytime the battery is connected. If I remember correctly, there is a recess next to the solenoid terminal to accommodate that tang.

It looks like that is the case. To make it worse, it says to "remove the LEFT side...converter".
