replacing stock speakers in 2000 camaro
my son recently bought a 2000 camaro and one of the door speakers is blown. when we went to buy some new speaker, we were told that the car has a "monsoon" head unit and if we wanted to replace the speakers we would have to replace the head unit also. is this true ? and/or does anyone have any suggestions about replacing the speakers .

I pulled the door panel and found that tere are 4 wires going to the speaker instead of just 2. if i put a new speaker in that just has the 2 wire connectors ,then wich two wires do i use?

Some factory Camaro systems ( like Bose) use individual amps attached to each speaker. In this case a regular speaker will nort work as there is not enough power from the head unit to drive the speaker. Being that you have 4 wires, I suspect 2 of the wires are for battery power the amp, and the other 2 for the signal from the head unit. Check with yor Chevy dealer as to what system you really have. If the individual amp is bad, take it to a radio repair shop and they will be able to fix it, much cheaper than buying a new one.
