Default Oil Change Already? ?

So I just got this SS about a week ago and the top left side of the windshield has a sticker that says next oil change is up for June 2011 or 73k, my car has 70k so oil was suppose to be good. Yesterday I was driving and the oil change light came on, I'm like "what tha, already, it's way too soon." So i did an oil change right away since I do commute from home to work two hours a day so don't want to take any chances. I put 5 1/2 quarts of Castrol Syntec 5x-30 with a new filter and I also did a radiator flush and put new anti-freeze to try to keep the car up to par. Do you think the dealer who had the vehicle did a crummy job doing an oil change or is there a problem on my end with the motor, cuz there is no type of leaks anywhere underneath, so hopefully it was a poor oil change job.

they probably didn't reset the oil change indicator. the computer tells you based on mileage when to change the oil. so more than likely the oil in it was fine they just never reset it after changing the oil.

That's exactly what happened. Sorry, but you just wasted an oil change.

Ohhh you can reset it like that? I thought the only way was to have the car on with engine off and press the gas pedal three times. Haha now that's embarrasing, I guess now I know I gave the proper oil :/

I never really payed attention the the light. I would always just change mine every 4500 miles. I use Royal Purple and a new filter as well. So whenever the light comes on I just reset it.

I think I want to use Royal Purple on my next oil change. Is it legit?

how do you mean "is it legit" ?

Yes, it will lubricate your engine just fine and yes it will cost a lot more

"Legit" as in, is it good? Will you notice a difference between other synthetic oil?
