New Camaro convertible top
Hello,
The wife and i had borrowed my brothers convertible corvette and fell in love with the top down feel. We didn't want to go the corvette route since there is not rear seat (dogs love the open air too). Anyway, we waited for this year to go get a convertible Camaro but ended up not buying one because we found the way the converitible top worked to "mickey mouse".
The salesman couldn't figure out how to get it down, then he noticed that you have to pull out this "cover" thing in the trunk (looks like a roller shade)....why is this needed??
Once it was down it took him 10mins to get the plastic tourneau cover out of the truck and place it sort of correctly and even then it didn't seem to fit properly. On the Corvette you opened up and steel hinged cover slipped the top in then closed it like a trunk. Why isn't a system like this used on the Camaro? Fiddleing for 10mins or even 5 when the rain comes isn't fun. It takes less then a minute with the Corvette.
You can't leave the plastic tourneau cover off on the Camaro or the top will eventually shred itself in the wind.
Will this ever be addressed? Anyone else complained wouth the mechanics of the top?
