cooling fan relay problem
Good evening everyone -
I am starting a 1995 Camaro V6 project for my 14 year old daughter to be ready by her 16th birthday. She will be helping me.
I found a lonely 1995 Camaro V6 T-Top and have commenced to working on it.
It runs, actually pretty well. It has 200800 miles.
I lifted the relay box up and noticed it didnt have either fan relay and the cooling fan never turns on. I got two relays and tried to install them. There's no metal under the plastic relay box so they dont snap in, they just sit there loose.
This cant be right. Help ....

I looked in my Haynes manual and it shows 3 relays. One for each cooling fan, not sure what the 3rd is for. The ecm controls the relays to turn the fans on and off. So you're saying there are no terminals beneath the relay box to clip the relays? My guess is the previous owner may have removed the wiring and rigged it with an aftermarket switch. Check if there is a toggle switch on the dash or odd wiring going to the cooling fans. Also see if you can find the wiring under the relay box. It may still be there. It's best to repair the system as the factory designed it but sometimes you may have to rig it your way. I would try to power up the fans first to see if both are working properly.
