Default 3.8 V6 looking to add a little power- Turbo it?

This is my first post here, so hey everyone.

Anyway I want to add a little more pazaz to my 3.8l 2000 camaro (200 Hp @ 5200 rpm, but Im sure you know that ) the thing is I don't want to spend too much cash, im a little crunched at the moment. Theres the possibility of putting in a turbo, but a kit and redoing the compression ratio is typically upwards of 4 grand. Hypothetically what if a put a turbo in without lower the compression ratio, would this completely implode my engine? (95k miles, if that makes a diff.) And do you have any suggestions for other hp boosters? I'm thinking and new chip or something but right now I couldn't really care less as long as its affordable.

Oh and no nitrous kits, that stuff isnt for me.

then go buy your speed chip.
you know for a 3.8 you can do a 75 shot with no mods... ($545)
or buy your turbo/tune/reprogram/ ($5,000)

ORIGINAL: bluovlh8er

chips dont work.
In most new cars this is true.

Go with forced induction, along with a full standalone ECU ex: Greddy Emanage Ultimate and Megasquirt.

What is your budget?

depending on what your budget is, just drop a small block v8 into it, i'm not a huge fan of the v6's, don't get me wrong, the 3.8's are great motors and they are just about bulletproof and nothing will ever happen to them, i really wouldn't waste my time in putting a turbo onto it, for 5k your could probably buy a small block and somewhat build it up for that amount of money.
