Default How-to: URL Linking & Font Colors

URL Linking:

Want to share a cool link with your friends? Want to name it something other then what the link text says? Well here's how you do it!

First off, we start by finding a link we want to use....I chose to useESPN.com as an example.... so highlight the web address and right click and choose copy.

Then we create our new post and type in the text we want to use instead of the web address....and then highlight it.

You will then click the hyperlink icon located next to the A symbol in the posting box.

A new window will appear. This is where you will paste that copied URL we took earlier. If you did it right, you should be able to just right click in the window and choose paste. Then click okay on the window.

You should then see an underline appear under your text. Simply click okay to post your post and now you will simply see a line of text that links you to a website or forum.

The coolest sportspage on the net!!!

If you're interested in changing your font or color of your font.....read below....

Changing your fonts & adding colors to your text:

I'll try to answer this as easily as I can. Unfortunately, the forum doesnt really support a bunch of different fonts. The 7 fonts the forum supports are very identical in look and size. The way to change the fonts that I use is fairly simple. Type your post and get it looking the way you want. Then highlight the entire post.

If you dont know how to do this, you can do it two ways:

One, start at the very end of the post, left click on the screen, and drag the mouse all the way to the top of the post until all the text is highlighted. Two, go up to the very top of the screen and find Edit. In this menu, you can choose the option Select All. That will highlight the entire post for you.
Once you have the post highlighted, then go to the Font Face drop box and change it to what you want out of the group.....you can also change the color and font size without having to reselect the text IF you dont click on anything else in the post. Simply click on the drop down menu's and the color box.

Here's an example of what the fonts look like etc...

Times New Roman
Arial
Verdana
Tahoma
Courier New
Trebuchet MS
Microsoft Sans Serif

I hope this helps!

Um, how are we supposed to tell the difference between what you do and dont have? You just said things I do/do not have and listed things... that doesnt help, but I still have a solution.

Buy a legal copy of it.

this is an example of a thread that should have been reported to our "spring cleaning thread" in forum issues, because it contains old info which relates to our old ASP software and broken BB code.
that said, Now I feel like I should address your particular level of fail....

what exactly do you mean "buy a legal copy of it"? I can only guess that you are (for some unknown reason, perhaps you didn't even read the thread?) assuming that he is telling us how to rip off some editing software like photoshop or something similar. However, he is describing how to perform fundamental actions using the tools within this forum (or at least the ones that were there before we went to VB). so yes, his descriptions will not match what you see, because you have different tools now (although the symbols are largely the same).

please read carefully before deciding to criticize somebody, especially if that information is stickied. if you are reading a sticky and don't understand something a safe assumption is that you have missed something, not us.

EDIT: something just occured to me.... we've had a series of spammers around some one of the mods has been deleting the messages instead of hiding them.... if you were responding to a post which is now gone then disregard my message and I apologize. carry on

I think that's what may have happened. I've already been in a couple of other threads where the spammers message was deleted. And if you're the next one in line, your response to them is referring to something that's no longer there. I'm gonna start quoting the spammers in those instances so as to not look like a loony again....at least in those instances anyway!
