Default Replacing Monsoon System Complete?????

Ok, my 1999 Monsoon system has seen better days and I'm sick of listening through 1 speaker and skipping CDs. I'm planning on replacing at least the head unit and all 6 speakers, but had some questions on the amp and wiring.

I can either try to find appropriate ohm speakers to work with the stock amps, find a set of small woofers for the rear seat speakers or completely overhaul the system.

I would rather avoid replacing everything and buying new amps to boot, but don't think it will be an easy task finding a set of 2 ohm speakers to work with an aftermarket deck.

I'm looking for options. I can't run all 6 speakers off an aftermarket deck, so I'll have to run an amp. I'm not looking to win any competitions, don't want to run a subwoofer, just a simple system w/ a new deck and speakers. What do you guys think is the best, cheapest way to do this.

Ok, found this for the front speakers.

http://www.epinions.com/review/Infin...t_443712769668

The front speakers are 6.5" and split the tweeter and woofer.

Anyone see anything for the other 4 speakers.

i have a better idea, screw the amp idea, and just hook up 4 speakers. If thats not enough then just run a 4 channel to em. cheap and simple, dont make it hard on urself

I was under the impression the front and sail panel speakers were 6.75", are you saying the 6.5's would fit? Cause that would help out with the searching over all. Also, do we have any one who has either a schematic of the stereo system, or pictures of where everything is at (Amp, speakers, wiring harness's, etc.). I am still trying to find the dam Monsoon amp, lol.

its funny b/c i was just looking at this amp the other week and thought for someone who didnt know exactly where this is,this could be pretty confusing and annoying.lol but its not to bad..remove your passengar side plastic panels in the back (under the hatch where the one small speaker is at,takes like 3 little plastic pins that you have to turn from locked to unlock).then u have to remove the spare wheel(good time to check if theirs actually air in it in case u mite actually need it one day.lol).after thats off you'll see the amp back in there,it looks kind of triangle shaped with the mounting bracketbut heres a pic off ebay so u know what it looks( likehttp://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/98-02-Camaro-Firebird-monsoon-amplifier-OEM-factory-132_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286Q2em20Q2el1116Q QitemZ310100692398QQptZCarQ5fAudioQ5fVideo)

I just saw it for myself today. Still not sure what kind of system I have... When I bought the car, it had a tape deck and six speakers. Swapped out the tape deck for a factory CD player, and found out today there is an amp in the trunk mounted near the spare tire.

That does help. I don't know that I will do anything wiht it. but this way if I ever wanted to tap into it or remove it I know where. I used to have a car that had it under the passenger seat... very handy.

So that amp only powers the frond door and sail panel speakers, correct? So why did they run it to the back first? Seems kinda odd not to find somewhere more efficient to put it.
