Ya, in my town the California Highway Patrol had a Camaro, They painted it black and white and had the lights on top. Last year the Chippy who drove it pulled over some punk and was shot in the head. They then retired the car, but i saw another one about a weak ago.

Here, trooper are issued Crown Vics, Impalas, and the senior guys get Chargers. I was issued this straight from my sergeant, who received a Charger.

I was running coded to a call about a week ago, officer in distress, and was averaging I think about 120. I looked down at one time and was at 150 I believe, but when driving that fast, and responding to a call, especially an assistance call such as that, there were other things on my mind than remembering how fast I was going.

It is a nice ride, I won't complain. Better than a CVPI, or Impala.

Here in NY, the state troopers use the Crown Vics to cruise the highway and hide the Camaros in the bushes. So when you thought you outran the big cruiser, you see a Camaro with flashing lights on your rear bumper. The biggest complaint was that the light bars were flying off the roof at 150 MPH. LOL

Personally I feel the police shoud be gien the fastest car available, as they do in some european countries. German highway police get to drive Turbo 911s, in Italy they get Alfa cruisers, and Lombarghini chase cars. Then again, many of their highways habe no speed limits.

Well, the US economy doesn't exactly allow for Porsches or Lamborghinis...so yea. Haha.
As far as the lightbars flying off, that shouldn't happen if they're installed correctly. If they have mag-mounts, that's just stupid.

FWI:
Thought you all deserve to know this thread and it's poster is a fraud/impersonator.

His real name is Austin, a 17 year old kid, not an Arkansas State Trooper. His charade eventually came to an end last week after postingthis same thingon an emergency equipmentsite; "elightbars.org",where a large majority of the members there, being "real law enforcement," knew better.

He was banned andsubsequently, is being investigated.

owned..
lol nothing else to really say about that one. but still a nice car.

the state troopers here in florida have the 4th gen camaros, i used to drive a ducati 996 about a year ago and had one chase me down... i was pushing about 130 when i passed him, figured id let it roll since i got off at the next exit (2 miles down the highway) and my house was only a few blocks away from there, plus the fact that a 130mph in a 70 mph zone wasnt going to be a nice christmas present. well when i got to the red light at the end of the off ramp he was right on my ass, and god was he pissed! i thought i was going to get tazed and maced, but ohwell, learning by mistake is the best way to learn. ;)
