Help

I have a street/strip car. Redoing the rearend this winter and will also be replacing leaf springs with new.

should I choose the "monoleaf" type springs or the "multi-leaf" type springs.

the car currently has multi-leaf springs.

please support your answer.

the car has a 454 chevy, TH-350 trans, 3.73 gear, 10-bolt 8.5 housing (upgraded everything inside) standard tires.[:o]

thanks.

The leaf spring pads on the axle won't fit on the mono leaf spring. There will be too much of a gap and won't clamp the mono leaf.

If You wanted to use monoleaf, You'd have to weld on a pair of aftermarket spring pads. Moroso makes them. I had good luck with both the multileaf and the monoleaf springs, so I'd go with Your own preferance. With a Multileaf, You'd have less chance of getting completely out of control if You broke a spring ( I've seen it happen ) so the multi would be a safer piece.

I personally went with the multi leaf for better control and handeling. They are good for both drag racing and "track" racing. The multi leafs provide more provisions for less axle wrap. It is stiffer too for cornering. But there enlies the problem, stiffer = wheel hop for drag racing or stiffer = less axle wrap.
