I was finally able to travel the river road today from my home to my destinationm which was about 10 miles of smooth cruising without a single traffic light, stop sign or any jackass in my way. This was the first real drive out with my Camaro.
Then on the way home, just as I was getting back on the highway, mr cop appears to play follow the Camaro. He followed me for about 3 miles, and I made hella sure to stay right on 55 since he was sitting about 10 feet off the left of my rear bumper.
Well, he gave up, no ticket gained, and he turned back around.

hmmm..i hear ya there mike...i dont understand why it is that polcie feel the need to harass certain types of cars, but it is awful that because someone has a fast car, the fuzz follows you around...i guess making sure that you dont have a real chance to open her up...the area that i grew up in was especially bad...its fairly riztie, and the police dont have anything better to do than to hastle people with nice cars...[:@]

Might also depend what color your camaros are. I have a pewter-colored v6 camaro 2001. Sped lots of times, saw cops slowed down, never been caught yet (knock on wood). Mine even kinda looks like a v8 z28 from the outside because of the dual exhaust and the sound it produces. Oh well, maybe I'm lucky? I even live in California where there's a lot of traffic and lots of cops everywhere. Guess I'll count my blessings. :)

You all must realize that the highway patrol cops are hired to give tickets, and are requred to produce a certain amount of tickets at the end of the month. There are usually more cops on the payroll than are needed to control real crimes, so our elected officials send them out on the road to earn their keep by giving out traffic tickets. Don't blame the cops as much as you should blame the people you elected, by voting or not voting them into office.

In my state, New York, be careful when driving the NY State Thruway, the cops will give you 10 over but no more. State Police cars are not permitted to pull you over with an udercover car. So what they do, is send an udercover car in traffic to drive along with the crowd. These cops will radio ahead the description of the offending car and it will get pulled over by marked patrol cars. If at this point you fail to stop, you are in deep excretment. About 1/4 mile down the road there will be several chase cars waiting for you. At this time they are still using Camaros, but will be getting hot Mustangs soon. So trying to run is not an option and radio transmissions are still faster than any vehicle.
If you drive in NY City itself, any kind of speeding is impossible, but look out fot parking tickets $100 to $300 plus tow and storage fees. On the Long Island Expressway (I 495) they much don't care how fast you drive as long as you don't go over 80 and don't drive impaired. A DWI will get you taken to jail in handcuffs and your car impounded and stripped in search of contraband. The worst part of getting a traffic ticket is not the fine itself, which is bad enough, but the insurance surcharge which will haunt you for the next 3 to 5 years.
