Well, I can tell you why I did. I spent less money for an 11 second street car, with full mods to support that type of driving style, than you can buy a decent late model Z28 Camaro for. Any other questions??

well seing how a new SRT-4 cost around 23k and adding a stage 2 turbo wich is around 12 sec is about 3 grand, i believe that to definately not be true.

you can get a good running 93-97 LT1 F-body with decent mileage for around 7-10 g's and with 3-8 more G's in mods wich is 10-15 grand you can easily get an 9-11 sec car, if you know how to properly build a motor.

dont even get me started on LS1's (98-02 {12-18G's}) wich many vid's and timeslips, and me witnessing have posted 10 sec runs with stock bottom end and stock heads.

besides, neons sound like A$$ and they look like it too.

I hate to burst your bubble Stanman, but with that kind of cash spent on a neon, you could have built up quite a mean LT1 or LS1, as stated previously by 94Z28SHAKER. Throw on a vortech supercharger, long tubes, throttle body, camshaft, cylinder heads, stroker conversions-whatever combination you prefer, could turn out the same timeslips as your SRT-4 and actually look like a man while doing so. I think you are just trying to pick fights on a forum not even intended for cars like yours. And as 94Z28SHAKER said earlier-"besides, neons sound like A$$ and they look like it too. "
I have to agree. Just to put it into perspective you spent 25 grand on a four door economy car.
Maybe trashing camaros on a camaro forum isn't such a good idea.

I don't trash Camaros. They are not my cup of tea, I am a Ford/Mopar guy, but I don't trash them when they look clean and run well. I have a V8 RWD car, and I love the way it sounds. I also love the lumpy sound of my cammed 4 banger at idle and the sound of a turbo whining and the BOV when shifting.

And, if you read a couple threads down, a 383 stroker couldn't even hang with my car when it was on the stock turbo, lol. There are lots of Camaro's out there that would beat my Neon, but for every 1 that can, there are probably 1000 that can't, and the looks on their faces as my econobox neon blows their doors off is absolutly priceless.

Oh, and I have about $30,000 into the Neon. About the same as I have into my Mustang.

While that may be true and I am sure it is, the same could be said of my car. There are thousands of Neaons out there that can't touch my car, but only a few that can beat it. See where I am going with this.

JD stop, lol!! Camaros are made to whoop other cars, so it shouldn't be a suprise when they do, lol. Now, a Neon, that's different. If you beat people with your Camaro, they probably just look over and give a thumbs up, which they should. When I took down that C5 Vette (when I was still on the stock turbo mind you), he looked, literally, like he wanted to kill himself, or at the very least get as far away from me as possible as soon as possible. You just can't buy that sort of entertainment, lol!!

And for the last time, I love my Mustang more. I love RWD, I love 8 cylinders in harmony, I love the way the loudmouths sound, I love doing big smokey burnouts, I love doing a power u-turn, I love the way people drool over it, take pictures of it, want to sit in in (especially these 2 babes on HWY 100. Man, if they weren't jailbait they would have gotten a workout that night!!)I mean it's all good.

My Neon on the other hand, FWD is a pain to launch, it's a heavily modded turbo car, so it's very finicky and high maintenance, it's nothing to look at, but man, if you want to go fast and make $$$$$ on some unsuspecting chumps, it's a hands down favorite. And people who like cars should respect it for what it is, the only true competitor left (well, it's not even made anymore, lol) to the Mustang as far as price (it's way lower) and performance (very similar). People shouldn't hate on the SRT-4, they should embrace it, it's one of the only 2 affordable performance minded American made cars left. Oh, and when the Challenger comes out, there will DEFINATLY be one in my driveway!!!

yea that is something to laugh at, who knows what the 383 stroker had in it, and if it was put together right, probably went cheap on the parts, or wasnt tuned right, but a properly tuned/built 383 N/A LT1 or LS1 with proper drive train/suspention would walk on you all day long, and still cost less.

... dont get me wrong im not hating on the SRT-4's its good to see an american made 4 banger smokin on modded honda's and the typical 8cyl, they are just too small of a car for me to be comfortable in, and just about every SRT4 I see, the driver (usualy some 16 yr old) is constantly peering over at me revving it.

Bah.... that old hustle won't work down here in Chicago. We had some boys from KY here this past weekend try and pull the "it's only a 4cyl" crap on us in thier 10 second Talon TSI, talk about a safe racer:eek:

PM 89/383stroker, it was his car. He hopes for 12's. Also notice I said the car was on the stock turbo, not that is was a stock car. It was putting 307/365 to the wheels when I raced him. It wasn't close.

i would personally rather drive my slow camaro then drive a a srt-4 and plus the srt's are made to race.... so i guess its the same as the camaros. IT just looks and sounds like $h!T

American Rice is gross

when you dump $30,000 into any car i would expect to be able to beat a lot of stuff.

heres an idea. take a stock 98-02 SS and a stock SRT-4 and put the same amount of money into both of them with performance in mind, not gay ass body kits and paint jobs. then race. my money is on the SS.
