There are two basic types of pressure gages, mechanical and electric. The mechanical gages you need to run an oil pressure line from one of the oil passages in the engine to the pressure gage. the electric gage requires that you install a sending unit into an opening to a oil passage, and then extend a wire to the gage, and connect the gage to power. Both gages will need to be wire for lights, if you want them. An easy way to connect to an oil passage is to use a "T" fitting where the oil pressure switch lives and then screw the switch on one side of the T and connect the sending unit or pressure line to the other side of the T.

You'll usually find the pressure switch on a Chevy near the oil filter. Be sure to keep the lines and wires away from any high heat like the headers or manifolds.

"Real men" use mechanical gauges! For the oil gauge, don't use the cheaper plastic line that can get kinked, melted, broken, and then leak. Copper line is better and costs more, which is why it doesn't get packaged with most gauges.
