when i go to start my 305 with a quadrajunk car i get a loud grinding sound and smoke comes out my carb...could this be my starter or did i jam my pistons????

Could Be The Starter Bendix Or A Cracked Or Broken Flywheel. If Smoke Is Coming From The Carb It Must Be Spinning Over Some. That Smoke Doesn't Nesessarily Mean Anything. Did You Run It Hot? Low On Oil? Been Racing It? Never Heard Of Jamming A Piston. I've Seen Them Blow To Pieces And Come Out The Side Of The Block. One Things For Sure A Grinding Sound Means It's Time To Break Out The Check Book. Sick

lol, sounds about right to me, grinding definately is not a good thing, try to break it loose by using a prybar on the crank, if it wont then your seized up, and your starter is grinding away at the flywheel.

i ran it with low oil and soon as my oil light stayed on i put more oil in it in the moring then i get something to eat and i get that sound.....so u say pry that bitch over

Now the truth comes out! You seized the engine.Yes, put a socket in the front pulley bolt, and use a long breaker bar to try to turn the engine. If you get it broken loose it will probably run, but not too well. You probably spun a bearing, and you will have to dismantle the engine to fx it. Can get pretty expensive.

Do not use the oil pressure lite as an oil level indicator. Many times when the lite comes one , the engine is already damaged.

Had That Happen To Me Once With A 302 Mustang-2. Raced It ... Oil Light Came On Cut It Off Put Oil In. Tryed To Crank It And It Was Locked Tighter Than Dicks Hat Band. Main Bearings Siezed. If It Will Turn With A Pry Bar It May Be Just A Bad Flywheel Or Starter. Hard To Say Without Hearing It Grind. If Its Auto ... Remove The Dust Cover and Look At The Flywheel. If thats the Problem It Will Be Obvious By Broken Teeth On The Flywheel. Sick
