Interesting read at http://www.camaro5.com about how the Camaro must sell 100,000 units to be built.

"Product chief Robert Lutz thinks General Motors can sell more than 100,000 units of the Chevrolet Camaro — and says that’s the number required for GM to build a production version of the concept unveiled at the Detroit auto show."

Was just reading an article on the Camaro (which is why i decided to find a forum and sign up)....I am interested in this car, and will be in the market for a 4 seat screamer in the 2008/09 model year time frame (recently had to sell my '00 Corvette as it won't hold more than 2 people -- kids).

Hope they do announce to do it for real and get on the ball so they can make the '09 model year.

the camaro can sell well over than 100.000 units if gm get the price right.

Price is always the key, but they also need to make the V6 (if they have one -- or at least the entry level Camaro) accessible at a good price. The entry level car will always sell 3:1 of the higher performance car...just look at the Rustang.

I agree with the last comment, i think chevrolet will have no problems selling over 100,000 cars if they make things correct. Take examples from other company's such as ford. Their new mustang has a market that appeals to each buyer, whether you want a V6(with decent hp ratings) or a sportier GT model with a v8. I think chevy has the potential to out do ford greatly if they create a car just like the original first generations. They need to make the cars have a list of options so that like the original, so no car really is the same. I even think they should take a step further by offering a couple V8's to impress the HP gearhead's and just like the mustang, dominate the trans am world.

Price is the problem with most of them.
For example, the new gen of GTO. I love the car but the price is just outrageous.
Like stated above, if they get the price in a reasonable range like Ford has done with the Mustang, it will sell no problem.
Have the V6 and V8 because some people just want a sport ride or to just brag that they have a Camaro and the V8 for the real power hungry enthusiasts.
