Car is 1974 Z28 Type LT in the process of being turned into a pro-touring car. Right now it has all matching numbers TH400 transmission and L82 350 small block. I'm researching and assembling parts for the T-56 swap that will come towards the end of this month. The L82 350 is mildly setup with a Weiand 8501 Air Strike manifold with a pretty modified 750cfm Holley 3310 with some QFT goodies installed and a 12-803 Holley fuel regulator. I'm getting annular boosters installed hopefully soon to give better low end signal. Comp Cams 280h that has .512/.512 lift with 1.6 Crane Energizer full roller rockers, Comp Cams one piece pushrods, Isky superlifter anti-pump-up lifters and comp cams beehive springs sitting on top of lightly modified 881 heads with 2.02/1.60 valves. Stock forged rotating assembly with TRW pistons and around 9.25 or so compression with the heads being milled. Clevite P series high performace rod and main bearings throughout and Total Seal gapless piston rings. MSD ignition system that is still being tuned for the new setup. Edelbrock 110 gph fuel pump and no logo ribbed valve covers. B&M transmission cooler and Griffin radiator for more than adequate cooling that used to vaporize my stock system whenever I turned up the crank. Hooker comp headers going into 3 inch pipes.
Now as always you guys can do pretty much whatever you want to in order to get votes. But don't go posting threads to vote for you in every section, that's got to stay in OT.
Voting ends at midnight central time on June 30st.
Good luck to you all, now lets get it on!

Kyphur, sounds like you put some money into your ride I love the make it look stock, with a il stomp in a 1/4 attitude.Mine is an every day driver, tire smokin, second gear scrachin thumper! Rancheronut,I love the bumpers.Correct me if im wrong but I think 76 was the last year for them.
Congratulations everyone, I have a feeling I'll get my butt stomped. My car's exterior doesn't look as good as the others imho. That comes later after it's running the way I want.
Bowtieguy> That BBC looks meeeeaaaaan!!! I love it!
G!III> Nope, the 77 was. 78 - 81 were the "disco" bumpers. It was basically 4 years for each 2nd gen styling. 70-73, 74-77, 78-81.
So yeah, the 2nd, 3rd and 4th pics are the day I bought her and there's a lot changed on the motor from the rebuild pic that you see up there. You can actually see a crack in the dash on the interior pic but that's now gone when I replaced with a dash from, if I remember correctly, a 77 Camaro.
I'm mainly focusing on the engine and drivetrain before I move to body and paint. My idea is to replace the matching numbers engine and transmission and store them until I decide to retire the car from driving and having fun with it. The transmission is being swapped out here soon and next will be the engine. Either going with a custom LSX block and build or a 454 blown and stroked to a 496. Nothing too insane.
Run down on what I've done:
Weiand 8501 Air Strike intake (similar to Edelbrock Air Gap)
Holley 3310 750 CFM carb with Quick Fuel Tech anti-bog vacuum pod and other internal goodies.
Holley 12-803 Fuel Regulator and Quick Fuel bracket
Comp Cams double roller timing chain
Comp Cams Magnum pushrods
Comp Cams 280H magnum cam with .512/.512 lift at 280 duration with 1.6 rockers
1.6 Crane Energizer Full Roller Rockers
Comp Cams Beehive springs, retainers and locks
Forged lower assembly with TRW pistons at 9.3 cr
Hooker Competition headers with 1 and 5/8ths primaries and 3 inch collectors
Thrush glasspacks
Total Seal gapless piston rings
Fel Pro performance MLS Permatorque head gaskets, rubber-steel core valve cover gaskets and rubber-steel core oil pan gasket
Melling high volume oil pump
Edelbrock 110gph fuel pump
ARP bolts and stud kits throughout
Griffin Radiator
Edelbrock no signature ribbed tall valve covers
Equus 8000 series gauges (speedo, tach, oil, fuel, temp and volts) in a Covan carbon fiber styled dash panel but will be moving to Autometer Pro-Comp Ultralite II's.
Summit SFI rated flywheel
MSD HEI cap and rotor
MSD Streetfire Ignition
MSD Streetfire wires
Accel vacuum advance and spring set
Th400 with a 2300 stall
B&M transmission cooler
T-56 being readied to install later this month with Quicktime Inc scattershield/bellhousing
Big 10 bolt 3.42 limited slip rear but going to a 3.89 or 4.10 Ford 9 inch
stock z28 sport suspension for the most part
Monroe Sens-a-track shocks on the rear
Energy Suspension leaf pad bushings
Energy Suspension greaseable sway bar bushings
235/60/15's in the front with 255/60/15's in the rear

I such a sucker for silver and black rally's, especially on the 78+ cars, that whole facia just makes it look so nice. But I'm partial to the green with black rally's of course, and the hood just makes it look so mean. But kyphur's car has that sleeper look to it. Tough choice to make here.

trust me... I don't want it to have the sleeper look, ha ha.

but G! III, is that a L88 hood? i really like it..
and kyphur, you have a nice clean car, but im not a fan of the front end..but my grandfather did have that style camaro, it ran low 14's (back in the 90's that was fairly fast lol)

No problem, I don't expect everyone to like that style. :) I did get to drive a 2010 Camaro for about 1000 miles (rental on business) and it was fun to drive. It was the 300hp V6 but it was still fast. Almost as fast as mine in the low end but with a lot higher top end thanks to the six speed automatic. The on steering wheel paddle shifters were cool for when you wanted to drop it into manual mode. It easily killed almost everything I ran against except a Viper I found on my way back on 95 south. He easily out accelerated me but he didn't lose me. It was a blast to drive and I couldn't believe the speed it had for a V6. I just wish my 74 got the same gas mileage, ha ha.

i love those metal bumper on my 1973 to 1979 ranchero too ! but the metal bumper always take the sporty look away, for some reason.
I'm not sure what years camaro had them and what didn't. I'm a ford guy, who also likes some chevy in my life! it's kinda like having a wife and the mother- in- law living in the same house with you. you never a dull moment:icon_couchhide:.

I'm not sure what years camaro had them and what didn't.
70-73 were the original 2nd gen front ends
74-77 were the metal bumpers
78-81 were the plastic bumpers
4 years for each basically.

For all you that have voted, I ask that you try and promote this around the forum if possible to get more people involved. We've been falling off in votes casted and would appreciate the boost in publicity. The quality of the cars and dedication of the members we nominate deserve max participation.
