hi i have a 1995 camaro v6. I am only getting 165 km's per tank of gas. some people say its the o2 sensors. otheres say it may be my injectors or even my distribution block. does anyone know what i can do to fix this?

does the car have a hissing sound from the exhaust? a plugged catalitic conveter will mess with power and mpg. o2 sensors will also. just changed mine and gained 5 mpg. when was the last time u got a tune up. oh.. the car got a tune up?

Your car is a 4th gen by the way... How does the car run?

i have not had a tune up, and from the back of the car all u can smell is gas. when i shift from gear to gear sometimes i get a bang out the exhaust from exess gas or something. i cant hear if its the exhaust hissing tho because i put a glass pack on it and thats all i can hear when its running.

well i would say u have air flow then, do a tune up on her and check the plug wires. if theres any question at all on the wires replace them. plug wires could very well be your problem.

i have recently changed all of the wires and plugs because i thought that was what it might be. it is still the same.

A moderator needs to move this thread to 4th Generation...

id get a superchip or hyperpac. most give diagnostics and re-program to give you the best performance/mileage.

A good tune up would be my advice. Have them check the plugs, filters, sensors etc. Good luck.

Lately I've only been getting 14 or 15 mpg, about a year ago I would get more like 17-18 (and I drive the same routes as I did then). I also have the hissing coming from the exhaust and the smell of gas. I'm thinking of changing the O2 sensor but could that be bad even without a check engine light coming on? I guess I'll also look at changing the plugs, wires, cat, etc.

It's hard to tell, but now that I think of it it does sound a little quieter than it did a few months ago. The thing is, I just got it smogged last month, so do you think I still could've passed even with a plugged cat? I'm in CA btw which, as we all know, is known for its nazi emissions laws xD

Hmm the gas mileage did seem kind of bad already then, I'm not exactly sure if it was the same or not as now. But I've been having the hissing and gas smell for months.
