I have a 1997 Automatic RS Camaro. Can I put a shift knob in my car that doesn't have a button even though there's a botton on the stock shift knob?

Thanx

nope, how are you going to engage the shifter without depressing it?

from what i am told you can. but if you bump the shifter by accident it will go into another gear. it would be like the shifters you put in street rod trucks

ya i agree that the B&M Console Megashifter is a sick looking shifter, but they dont make it for the 97'. the last year is 1992 for that model. Any other suggestions?

Actually you can use a manual shift knob on an Auto...My buddy did it on his cougar...All he did was when he wanted to change gears he just pushed down and it engauged.

Is this known to work on all cars??

i dont know if it works on all cars..but it should work on any car that has a push down button...all you have to do to test it before you buy the knob, take the auto knob off and just get something blunt and see if it will allow you to push the level down. i have a friend who has a 98 RS camaro auto and she has a light up manual shift knob...the only thing, you cant really anchor it down, so it bounces around a bit...

IDABRIDE- I think, if its anything like my camaro (1981) then the push button might pop off and there might be a retaining clip inside. Have fun taking that off (they make snap ring pliars but mine were not deep enough so I just used 2 screwdrivers.) goodluck
