The later is pretty lame, not to mention lacking the beautiful 3-point strut tower brace!

They added the rest of the parts and hooked everything up so the car would function?

I don't know.

I will say I don't like these garbage plastic engine covers all new cars seem to have.

which leads me to a funny story... not to get far off topic but one time we open the hood and apparently a mouse got cooked on the plastic cover, so it is good for one thing, an oven :P

um, yeah, they just put everything it needs in it... the concept didn't exactly have a whole lot in it. BUT, I do wish they woulda left the chrome in it instead of plastic...

All the new cars are lacking in the engine bay dept IMO.

Many GTO owners have replaced or painted the fuel rail covers for ie to dress it up a bit.
The Camaro engine bay looks even less attractive as stock. I am sure there will be after market things to do but when a car cost 32000, there won't be much left over.

Hey, its a prodcution car now, every penny counts and I'd rather they take pennies out of underhood look than out of HP. I personally don't care what the engine looks like: always take the fuel rail covers and etc off anyway -- they are only deadweight and they get in the way of seeing the first signs of leaks, loose bolts etc. However, if you car, there are aftermarket parts of dress it up.

Id take the second one over the first one. Nothing wrong with a shiny engine bay, but I dont look at it unless something is wrong or Im working on it, Id rather have functional things. You know, an air filter, a radiator, a freaking intake, look at the first one, there is no intake, there is a manifold, but the intake looks like it might be in the bumper. You guys can stand and stare at your engine all you want, Id rather drive mine lol.

all gm models have been having more and more plastic. The older crowd seems to like them as it just provides a cleaner look for them...

it also covers a lot of the extra parts on the engine .....

ditch it all !

they always do that.... every concept is better looking than the production.

well... i'm not sure what really happened but I could bet a few things... the concept isn't easy to disassemble or practical... plastic weighs less... not really sure what happened, but this is what happens when you have a lot of people involved in something... many hands touch projects and it evolves far from the original... and designers are not like engineers

I have to agree... the engine plastic covers don't look so hot.

I will fix that small issue :) given some time.... and if you buy and live in Phoenix give me a ring... or email. We can do some fitting and have new restyled covers made in carbon fiber. Make it look more like a muscle engine than some dressed up plastic junk. Again I have to agree Chevy invested their $ in making a nice car not nice engine bay. I could definately do some hot stuff with that bay!
