What is best to use for welding, TIG or ARC?

if your talking about welding body panels,floor pans,a wire welder is the only way to go.wire seems smoother,more controllable.stick welder would probably do the job,if you turn it way down and find a small rod.wire looks cleaner.just my opinion

I personally like tig welding the best. It is the most accurate and gives you the most control with out splatter or too much distortion because you control the power output. Arc welding has the LEAST precision, but it is good for thicker materials.

One thing to think about if you are wondering what to purchase NHRA will not pass a car that has had the cage installed with a stick welder. For your money a MIG is the way to go TIG's are super exspensive and have quite a learning curve
to them . I have a Hobart handler 135 it is 110 and runs beautiful beads and was under $500.00 My father in law has the 175 which is a 220 machine but welds like your drawing in butta makes me lose blood to my brain if you know what I mean
