Camaro 69 06-07-2008, 09:21 PM It is if you have a 190 thermostat. I would prefer a 180 though. rebel72 06-11-2008, 05:04 PM i put in a 180 still runs hot like 190 at the red light and if i put it in park and rev it up it cools down i drain the aini frezze flushed it still the same thing and aother thing is sometimes when i turn off the motor it keeps running any help please Camaro 69 06-12-2008, 12:30 AM Check your ignition timing, it sounds like it might be off. Camaro 69 06-12-2008, 12:30 AM Most of the time it's the timing being too far retarded (pre-detonation) that makes the engine run hot. Camaro 69 06-12-2008, 12:31 AM And timing/heat could also be the cause of your run-on problem. Sorry about the multiple posts, this site is still frigged up. camaro76 09-18-2008, 09:12 PM ive had the same problem with my 76 camaro running hot and still does after putting a racing radiator and electric fan, i should probly check the timing Bab246 12-11-2008, 06:43 PM I have a 79 camaro with 11 to 1 compression jasper 350 400 hp electric fan my temp was always high to my car runs a lot cooler with a 165 t stat it runs around 175 180. also timing does help try to advance the timing a few degrees check your throttle responce should be very fast to rev. Shut car off let sit for 1 minute try to restart if it cranks hard timming needs to be turned back a little should help. my timming is about 35 degrees advanced with accel ignition. Go with the 165 t stat 180 wont work to keep you in the range that your looking for 1979RS 12-15-2008, 01:03 PM what is a proper or good temperature for the engine to run on? i've got a 350 lm1 all stock |
