79 camaro 350 motor the temp runs at 190 195 at a stop light runs more hot till i drive i check the water level and it fine is this temp normal?

It is if you have a 190 thermostat. I would prefer a 180 though.

i put in a 180 still runs hot like 190 at the red light and if i put it in park and rev it up it cools down i drain the aini frezze flushed it still the same thing and aother thing is sometimes when i turn off the motor it keeps running any help please

Check your ignition timing, it sounds like it might be off.

Most of the time it's the timing being too far retarded (pre-detonation) that makes the engine run hot.

And timing/heat could also be the cause of your run-on problem. Sorry about the multiple posts, this site is still frigged up.

ive had the same problem with my 76 camaro running hot and still does after putting a racing radiator and electric fan, i should probly check the timing

I have a 79 camaro with 11 to 1 compression jasper 350 400 hp electric fan my temp was always high to my car runs a lot cooler with a 165 t stat it runs around 175 180. also timing does help try to advance the timing a few degrees check your throttle responce should be very fast to rev. Shut car off let sit for 1 minute try to restart if it cranks hard timming needs to be turned back a little should help. my timming is about 35 degrees advanced with accel ignition. Go with the 165 t stat 180 wont work to keep you in the range that your looking for
