94Z28SHAKER 02-25-2006, 02:05 PM well last year i drove from troy (15miles from detroit) all the way to the left side of the upper punninsula, it was around 450 miles, i drove mostly in cruise, but i got up to 150 a couple of times getting away from the state boys, had to stop a couple of exits to make sure he didnt call the other boys on me, but i got around 350 miles to the tank, before filling up on 94 sunoco premium (all i use). i believe i had a intake manifold gasket leak at the time, but i was going up to my buddy's house where we took the intake all apart anyway, to clean it up and put new gaskets on. So a couple days later on the way home i got a little under 400 miles to the tank and only kinda throttled it once, to pass some dirty deisel exhaust spittin ahole.
-hope that helps, i dont take her on road trips anymore, although that was the best one ever, pulled so many chicks :D
jus_business932 02-25-2006, 10:16 PM sorry i meant the v8 third gen camaros...
but i guess the engines arent that different
and whats ur tank size?
nimrod_sixty9 03-03-2006, 06:34 AM Well the LS1 and the LT1 would kill third gens when it comes to gas mileage. The LS1 really gets good mpg, ive heard up to 34 mpg. As for my 1992 305 auto, Id say Id get around 18 Highway at around 65-70 MPH (thats likely at most, with really good gas [BP]).
TimmyTheWop89 03-03-2006, 06:26 PM i did a little bit of math and came to about 8-10 city and 10-12 highway. thats not too good but with a 750 carb and big cam its not TOO bad.
Ascot71 05-16-2006, 11:34 PM I have a 307ci With edelbrock 600cfm. a big cam, TH350 no overdrive to 3.42 gears. Mileage is about 11mpg. it was 16mpg when i had the 2.73s in the rear. but its worth it being alot quicker now. Tank is 17 gallons

z28pete 05-17-2006, 09:29 PM When my 94 Z28-A4 was new, I took it on several cross country trips. With the cruise set at 75 MPH the car would get between 24-26 MPG, depending on road condition. Driving flat out through eastern Montana, it was around 12 MPG, which is also what it got in New York City traffic.
sewerrat 06-01-2006, 05:04 AM My 94 LT1 gets 12 mpg also, city
bowtieguy 06-01-2006, 08:12 PM 78' camaro 454/400 turbo 3.70 posi-trac.motor is pumping out about 450-500 hp and i get about 5-6mpg,i think my tank is a 18-gallon tank.
blackz87 06-02-2006, 10:23 AM 13/14 city and 23/26 highway and it depends how I drive.

thirdgencamaro 06-12-2006, 10:10 PM my 2.8 can get 25 30 if i dont try to race it
Asimplename 07-12-2006, 09:19 PM wow...can't you get more mpg when you add certain mods like exaust and stuff?

camarohelp 07-14-2006, 08:35 PM Factory listings claim 16 mpg city and 26 mpg highway for the 305 Auto
For a manual its 14 city and something like 24 highway.
Somehow though I pull 17 mpg from my manual '92 305.
Pipanski 08-31-2006, 01:05 PM Hey guys, I don't own a camaro, but I am looking at the camaro engines. I'm thinking about getting a Fiero, and swaping either a 350 crate engine into it, or a camaro engine and supercharging it. I have been looking around this forum for ideas, and I came across this thread. It hit me like a brick wall, how crappy of MPG you guys get. I have a escort, that used to get 28-29 mpg. I loved it. Then I turbocharged it, and now it gets around 20. I don't know if I can take another ten off of that....lol!
Anyway, I thought I might let you guys know about a national private gas club called Revolution Road (http://www.turbodave.revroad.com).
This club allows its members to save $50 a month on gas. Plus it has a nation save drivers program that is even better than AAA. You can get 5 tows up to 25 miles for free per year.
In my fiero I'm looking for about 350-400 rwhp....I believe a camaro 350 supercharged should get me there...should it not?
Anyway, good luck with your mpg!
74454bb 08-31-2006, 04:26 PM 74 Camaro with a goodwrench 454 HO , with the high rise intake and 850 demon around 5 mpg, with the cast iron and 760 q jet about 7 or 8 mpg. As soon as I get the cowl hood the demon combo goes back on.
just terrible thats all i have to say. my 94 z is a daily driver and having to run the 91 octane or higher for optimum performance gets very costly especially when im in college and having to drive back and forth every day but hey at least im riding in style i would say i get about 10-12 city around 20 on the hwy.
95slvrZ28 09-01-2006, 07:54 PM hrm, I have a 95 and compared to you guys, I get reletively good milage. I generally average about 16 city and around 21 city-highway mix.
Saint_Ali 09-01-2006, 10:33 PM i can idle for 5 minutes with 8 gallons of premium
freebird230 09-03-2006, 03:27 AM well let see 1996 Z-28 with a 540 Big block with 411 gears about 2 mpg
1979 Z-28 with 460 Big Block with 411 gears about 5 mpg
1988 Camaro with a 460 Big Block 456 gears about 4 mpg
That is mellow driving with restraint but hey I love to hear em run and rumble. Get on it and forget it!! If ya have to question the mileage maybe a big block aint for you!! Try the v-6.

WOW....that SUCKS
Ever been to the track in any of those???

save 50 bucks a month on your gas

freebird230 09-04-2006, 01:53 AM Track is about 60 miles away, then 60 miles back gets a little steep on the wallet. I will just no time yet, Im still payin the gas card off!!! Big Blocks are just fun to me so what the hell. The 96 runs 10's on motor and on the spray 9s but I think it will dip in the hi 8s if tweaked.
FlufyTiger 09-04-2006, 02:11 AM My 91 305 TBI DID get about 18 city, 26 hwy when I was nice to it, and all it has is a flowmaster exhaust and a 3"x14" round K&N open element air cleaner, and a 700r4 w/ shift kit. I've since then blown out the stock 273 gears from too much hard shifting and flooring it for 208k miles, and it's getting ready to be home to a set of 323s, so I imagine that's gonna take my mileage down a bit, but I gonna put a jet chip and a posi in there at the same time, so it might balance out. I'll let you know in a few weeks when the car is streetable again.
2002CamaroSSM6 09-05-2006, 06:32 AM My 02 SS has bested 33mpg on all highway but on those days were I feal like having a lead foot 10-14mpg
uncle bill 09-05-2006, 11:34 AM 1969 427 - 425HP 4 speed 4.10 gears - 11 mpg highway @ 60-65. '96 Z28 auto 3.42 gears - 21 mpg highway @ 70 mph.
1969 SS 09-15-2006, 12:18 AM I'm good for 7MPG on the highway are around 60MPH. with 3:73s and a 26" tall tire I will be just under 3 grand. I've hammered down before and got 73 miles out of a 16.5 gallon tank
big blocks are fun but you pay to play
jrdnrdg 06-16-2008, 12:10 PM my 305 is getting around 11 if i step on it and 13 if i drive like a grandma. if i am going to get bad gas milege regardless then i might as well get some agrenaline rushes out of it right?
MadMikeZ28 06-16-2008, 06:40 PM Wow this is an old thread. If you found this by using the search congrats!
