OK so here is the deal...

I purchased a 1980 camaro with a strong engine and beat to hell interior...

Ihave worked my butt off and now my camaro is looking much better...

but now that i and done with the looks i am now looking to how well the car runs and it is very easy to tell that my carb is runningsome whatrich... and rather then just turn it down i was wondering if some one could tell me how to go about tuningit to function at peek performance...

( I have a 305 with a 4 barrel intake using Edelbrock carb w/ electric choke )

When is the car running rich? Idle, mid-range or full throttle? A good start would be to identify the carb. Make certain it is not too much carb for the engine. Many people think, "bigger carb=faster car". This is not always true, an engine will only handle a certain amount of fuel. If the carb seems to working properly and is sized to the engine (flow), you may need to make some jetting changes.

wellI know that the carb runs rich when it is idling and as for mid to full throttle i don't know how to tell....

How doI go about finding out what model Edelbrock carbI have....I was only told from the seller that it was a high performance carb....

I realize that its not the size of your carb that improves your speed.. but my question is will the tuning of it make a noticeable difference in its performance in terms of speed and MPG ?

Go here and read
http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive_new/misc/tech_center/install/carb_faq.shtml
Then click on owner’s manual. It will have all the info you need
To tell which carb you have, there is a number stamped on the front down by the left hold down bolt
