Hey guys help me out here. I've got a red 2000 Z28 with t-tops. What percentage of tint should I get for it. I don't want anything to dark, but yet I think 35% tint will be to light. Does anybody have any suggestions?

I don't want anything to dark, but yet I think 35% tint will be to light. Does anybody have any suggestions? nj85z28 01-25-2006, 07:15 PM my personal experience/opinion, see whats legal in your state first so the cops dont bust chops. beast85 01-29-2006, 07:11 PM im gonna have to agree with lookin at your state statute of limitation on window tint. and it depends on what color the car is, if you have a light or bright colored car a dark window tint would not look bad. the contrast can look very clean, however in a darker car or black car you would want 35 to 40% any darker can look really trashy. if in doubt go somewhere that does windows and see if they have any sample pieces that you could test up against your car. but in the long run remember, its your car do what you think looks best. bhsfm 02-22-2006, 04:35 PM My cousin had 95% light out on his LT1 and whenever he would see a cop he would turn on his dash lights and lighten everything up...he also put a Chevy Decal on his back window to not make it so obvious. He never got a ticket for his windows. If you do get pulled over make sure you roll the window down before the cop gets there too..haha camarocrazy98 02-22-2006, 10:24 PM I have a red 1998 camaro and my windows are tinted. I think its either 35% on the sides and 50% in the back. Its either that, or vice versa. When looking at the car from the outside, it looks really dark, but from the indside its not too bad. I havent got a ticket for it yet. Y2KMARO 02-24-2006, 02:22 PM I'm getting mine tinted up on Saturday. The local tint guy said camaro/firebirds have natural tint in the glass, so they appear darker when tint is applied. I'm going 20% on the side windows and he said that would put me at about 15%. Thats what I had on my Lightning. It wasn't bad at all. I have had illegal window tint for years now and never had a cop question it. Maybe things are a little more strict where you guys live...;) Y2KMARO 02-25-2006, 11:06 PM I just got back from the tinting. I got 20% windows and a 5% eyebrow. Now that I have it, I wished I would have gone darker. The tint guy told me to go 5% all the way around, but I didn't think I wanted that dark. Now I wish I would have gone atleast 10%. MYIROCPLX 02-26-2006, 01:45 AM 10% fo sho nihgga!! ROFL teamlilE1 03-02-2006, 11:50 PM Wanna talk about dark? I got 15% on side windows 2.5% on back glass. I used to have 2 layers of 15% on sides lol needless to say I couldn't see at night if I had to back up I had to open my door.:D IBADRIDE 04-11-2006, 02:04 AM i just got a quote from a tint shop here in minnesota for my 91 Z and it was only 218.00 not to bad, but state law says, cars in minnesota cant be more then 50% side and rear, but the tint shop told me to go with 50% on the doors and 38% in the rear, cops in minnesota are assholes when it come to that.. guess if it's not to dark in the rear they will let you slide, but my brother has an 04 mustange with 5% in the rear, cant see for **** trying to back up at night, but it looks cool. Aaron shnormo 04-11-2006, 04:24 AM I got 15% in the rear and 20% in the front to keep things pretty level. I have no problem seeing at night and it looks very dark from the outside. JoeDubs86 04-14-2006, 09:48 PM I just bought my Camaro a few months ago and just got the windows tinted on Wednesday. I got 30% and I think it looks awesome. It's dark enough to where you cant see through too much but light enough to where you probably wont get pulled over. I'm in WI and the legal limit is 50%. My previous car was a blue Cavalier and I had 15% on it which I got pulled over with and got a $250 fine.... To the guy who says $218 isn't bad, I would look around.. I got my whole car done for $100, and another place I went to told me $140. -Another thing to think about. If your rear window has the little black spots (i think for rear defrost) at the top of the window, those cause big air pockets and it looks worse and worse the darker the tint is. The lighter the tint, the less noticable the air pockets will be. wig 05-15-2006, 03:16 AM jarid2000 What color is your car.IF your car is black the window won't seem so dark to the cops. wig 05-15-2006, 03:18 AM just seen were it said red. I'm such a stupid head. YouLost 06-06-2006, 05:28 PM My car is black and has 5% limo all the way around... car stays very cool and have not been pulled over yet haha :) chucknorris 08-24-2006, 06:50 PM the idea about putting a decal in the back window so that it doesnt look as dark worked for me. i got some cool decals from www.graphxonline.com and stuck them on the back glass. i'd like to think thats what has kept me from getting pulled over, considering i have 5% all the way around. otherwise the cops are really slackin :]] GreatWhite00 08-29-2006, 02:18 PM I was considering doing only the hatch glass, but that might look off. 350rs 08-30-2006, 03:05 PM my rear and front windshield are both at 5%, then my side windows are 20%. It looks alright, but if i could do it again, id get 15% or less on the sides. My camaro is also red, and i have put a set of blackouts on the taillights, i personally think it looks really nice. But i also put the chevy bowtie on the hatch glass as well. Celticsfan 09-06-2006, 08:06 PM I got 35% on the sides and 20 in the back, kinda wish i could "legally" go darker heres a before and after http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a186/Celticsfan34/car.jpg http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a186/Celticsfan34/P9050116.jpg overall im pretty happy with it |
