Anyone know the approx gas mileage of an IROC with a 350? I'm guessing like 15 mpg. I'd measure it myself but I need to hook up the speedo cable first.

I average 12/13 driving in the city with A/C ( heavy right foot)and Highway is about 24/26 mpg with the A/C and avg speed of 70/85 mph. Also my 350 is not the stock 350TPI.

Cool, thanks. Someone said Overdrive saves gas is this true? The guy I bought it from said that's for highway driving and drive is for cruising, any advice?

Yeah. Overdrive is a high gear, so you go faster but at lower RPM (which saves gas...)

I always keep my 'maro in OD. My daily commute is about half highway and half city. Even when I'm going 45, I have it in OD and I'm bumpin' along at about 1500-1600 RPM. Haha, farcry from the 4 bangers with the whiney engines.

Anyway, my LT1 is getting an average of about 19mpg with my city/highway combo daily commute. I put my foot in it every now and then, and run the AC in the afternoons (sometimes). Unless you're trying to control the engine in some way (for some kind of acceleration performance reason), I wouldn't advise "cruising" in drive. The RPMs are higher than is necessary for just going on a level path at a constant speed. However, it's not good to make an engine chug and starve for fuel. But even if I'm going up a hill for a short distance, I still don't put it in D. If it really needs to, it'll shift down. And with as much torque as my engine has, I don't think I'm starving it too much.

But maybe your engine is different (engines with different kinds of cams and other mods might call for something other than what I'm mentioning).
