Anyone think if this new Camaro, if it happens, will have an engine capable of handling both gas and ethanol? I know ethanol will get more horse power out of the engine and with current gas prices and depleting sources, so I was just wondering if anyone had heard anything about this maybe becoming a possibility, or any other views on the topic.

The car would require two tunes for the two types of fuel I'm sure. That's the first I've heard or even thought bout that type of setup. Will be interesting to see how things turn out.

Ethanol is not all that it is cracked up to be.

It can make more power than gasoline because of the high octane and oxygen content, but the BTU per volume is about 1/2 that of gasoline; thus giving about 1/2 the MPG.

It takes more energy to create a certain amount of ethanol than the energy it releases by burning it. It takes a lot of energy to plant, raise, feed, harvest, and convert corn into ethanol.

Ethanol is heavily subsidized by the government via tax breaks and incentives, in order to compete with gasoline. The tax breaks will soon end if ethanol becomes as common as gasoline, because the government needs the tax revenue.

It does make a better fuel additive than MTBE because it does not pollute as much.

Hes right. If it became as common as gas the price would sky rocket. It takes a lot more energy and time to make ethanol that regular gasoline. The reason it burns better is becuase of the oxygen content and the bonds are easier to break. B/c the gas is further borken down.
