is getting a new paint job the only way to removing swirl marks?
wet sanding will help? rubbing compound worked for a little while but now it looks as if it has worn off.

there is a swirl remover i saw at a auto parts store. i have no idea how well it does or dosent work though...

they can be removed..i found a polish off the back off a detailing truck that polished the wetsand out and left no swirls on my black gn....check with those detail supply trucks or a paint and body supply store...

Compounds will bring back a shine, remove oxidation and paint. But it will take away from the glos and lustre. To finish you need a product like 3M's finness it to remove the swirls. A auto paint store would have it. Some Crapa's also cary automotive paint and polishing supplies but places like pep boys, autozone, csk. they do not

Try claybarring and then waxing. For specific areas you could try Nu Finish or something like it.

Swirl marks are more a result of improper washing and care than anything, although an inexperienced person using a buffer will cause them as well. When washing, use the two bucket method (one for soap and the other to rinse your mit. Only use micro-fiber cloth on the paint and when waxing or drying always use straight back and forth motions and not circles.

x2 for jd, to get them out use a buffer and GOOD rubbing/polishing/ compound.

Hm, I've never thought about using two buckets before. I'm going to have to try that.
