just wanted to say meguires 3 step is the best wax system out there. hard to find a 98 with a cleaner paint job.

The only thing I don't like about it is the 3rd step... that wax isn't the greatest. I use Meguiar's Gold Class wax, it lasts longer and there is a little bit more of a shine. I also throw some clay bar in between the polish and the wax. The car comes out smoother and the wax ahears better.

over the summer i tried ICE and i had no complaints.

Ice wasn't as good as good ole wax. Synthetic waxes are only good for durability, you get more shine out of carnuba based waxes.

I personally like the Meguairs NXT Generation wax.

Don't buy the stuff at the store, it won't make a difference. Go to http://www.detailyourcar.com and that's where I get all my stuff from. It removes all the dirt in the pores of the paint from rail dust to pollution from following another vehicle. Once you're done wax it to seal all the pores in the paint. For best results, wash your car and wipe the whole car down with wax and tar remover. It'll leave the paint smooth as glass.

I'm gonna sound like an idiot but I've never waxed my car before. I had 2 beaters before my Camaro. I want to wax it but I never did it before and I don't want to F up my paint anymore than it already is lol. Any help?

You won't mess up your paint. just get some Mothers, or Meguiars wax and a 100% cotton cloth and towl. Or you can get the cloth for waxing. Wash the car with mild soap, dry, wipe the wax on (in the shade) let it dry, then wipe off. You may need a soft tooth brush to get the wax from the cracks and moldings.

Yea it is as easy as that... and you will be amazed at the look of your car when all said and done. Since you never did it before you may wanna think about clayingit and do a 3 step wax, takes more time but it will improve the overall smoothness and shine.

My vote is in for Zaino Bro's wax treatment...sooo amazingly shiny it isn't even funny, it makes most Meguiars stuff look dull(though I've never personally tried their 3 step one, but Zaino is freakin' shiny, you car is like a mirror, I could do my hair in my paint after I'm done).

My vote is for KIT, only cause I have a black Z and KIT was made specially for black vehicles. Used it last year and it worked beautifully :)

i used the three step today actually. Seems great, to bad my paint is 17 years old, and it shows its age unfortunatly. But for the parts of the paint that are good... all 2 square feet of it... it looks amazeing. i wasnt impressed with the 3rd step wax so i added my own wax after, a total of 4 applications today, im beat.

haha, when i first got my camaro, it was somewhat of a blue with a purple tint to it. lol. like a chameleon paint job or whatever they are called nowadays. i used this turtle wax we had and it took all the oxidized paint off and it shined beautifully. it was like looking in a mirror. probably the only wax ive ever used, but it is one of their hard waxes in the green tub, if you know what im talkin bout. used my own cloth/sponge aplicator, i waxed the hell out of that car. it still looks great, everything just rolls off when i rinse it. pollen, light dirt, bird poo lol. ok, not bird poo, that stuff is determined lol. anyway, ill try the brands you guys mentioned. no one mentioned turtle wax so im guessing it pales in comparison to the stuff you guys use.

I use 3M's Finesse IT II Microfinishing compound and then 3M's swirl remover for dark cars, after that I use Maguires Gold wax.

JD, instead of using the Meguiars, try ordering some Zaino, if your car is that shiny with a one step Meguiars, it'd be freakin' crazy with a 3 step finish...

when i first started waxing I used turtle paist wax. But after i heard so many good things about mothers i tried it. Now i used mothers clay bar, mothers instant showtime, mothers metal polish and mothers wax. It works so good and leaves a nice coat on the car.

I also use an automatic buffer. I dont think it makes the wax any better, but it sure is alot faster and better for polishing too.

When i need some scratches removed, I'll use a buffer, but when I wax it, it's all by hand.
