Default Fog lamp questions on 97 RS

I see the Foglamps were an option on the 97 RS. My son's car has the switch in the dash, does that mean the car possibly came originally with foglamps? His car had the nose replaced at some point. The headlights were never repainted or the "mouth" and the emblems weren't on the car when we picked it up so I'm assuming the past owner didn't put them back in. I did pick up an oem light, tried to find two, parts are scarce around here. When I looked up under the car I cannot find obvious wires for any foglamps. So if anyone could help that would be great.

Does having the switch determine if the car originally had the lights?

can someone enlighten me as to where the wiring harnes might have connected to for the lights?

Thanks in advance.

On RPO sticker, look for T96 RPO - Front Fog Lights.
Power would be from headlamp switch as fogs go off when in high beam; on in low beam.

Where would this RPO sticker be? On the door?

Thanks

I found it on the door.

No T96 just T82.

does that mean we wouldn't have the wiring for the fog lamps?
Can it be added fairly easy? weird because the switch is in the dash.

No T96, no fog lights, but can be added.
Ensure new fogs go OFF when in HIGH beam as state safety inspector may fail the inspection, if your state has vehicle safety inspections.
T82 is Automatic headlamps - on at dusk and off at light.

Would the wiring harnes be there already? or can I plug in the necessary harness? I possibly could track one down

Maybe, look in Relay box for a fog light relay socket.
If socket looks like it has connectors in the socket, then, yes, it may have harness.
For bulb connectors at front fascia, your eyes are the best tool.

If no harness, I'm sure you could make one.

wow i cant believe it has auto lights and no fogs... yep have a look at the fuse box and see if it as the plugins for the relay, look for the brass/copper connectors inside the plastic fuse box housing. if 97 is like the 93 then fusebox for relays is under the hood on the driver side wheel well . if they are not there then the wiring is most likely not there. you can pull the fuse box and look under it to see if the wires are there too.

I'll check it out tomorrow, I have a customer that drag races a 95 z28, I know he had fog lights, maybe I can acquire the necessary parts from him if needed. I'll check tomorrow and see what we have
