Default sensor on passenger side mannifold...

so on the exhaust manifold on the passenger side there is a piece held on by 2 bolts that goes up and has what looks like sensors and wires running from the top back towards the firewall. what is this module and what does it do?
also one of the bolts is broken so it is kinda wigly but not to bad. my car idles cold at 1400 and once warmed up sits right at 1000, is this what is making it idle this hihg?

3.4 or 3.8? Sounds like you are describing a O2 sensor but on the 3.8, they just screw into a hole in the manifold. Not sure about the 2 screws you are referring to.

Are you sure you're looking at the exhaust manifold, not the intake manifold? On the 3.8L, there's a MAP (manifold air pressure) sensor on the passenger side, near the back of the intake manifold. If that's loose and letting extra air in, you can be sure to have a high idle.
