Parking Brake Adjustment

Parking Brake Adjustment
Hi All, I'm a newb to the forum and to Camaro ownership, so please be gentle . I've searched the archives, but haven't been able to find a definitive answer on how to adjust the parking brake on a 2001 v6. Right now, I need to pull the handle almost vertical before the brake will catch. It seems that it should catch a bit sooner than that, so is there any way to adjust it? Thanks!

The rear brakes are discs. Is there some procedure to jumpstart the self adjusting? So far, it's not doing a very good job of adjusting itself.

My Hayne's manual is kind of weird. Says they are all self adjusting, but may need manual adjusting. For 2001+ it sas to apply and release the parking brake three times to let it self adjust. I'm assuming that means do it all in a row. There is about a whole page worth of steps on how to manually adjust them. I'm not going to write it all though.
