Question Fuel line mystery

On my '95 there seem to be three related fuel lines, one of them seems to be a vacuum line? This one has just a spongy union under the car about in the middle below the drivers side door. This connection is not very good and the connector is worn -- can someone tell me the purpose of this line? When pulled apart with the car off, there is no fluid which comes out of it, leading me to believe it's for air/vacuum. Can anyone confirm?

It's for returning vapors to the tank.

There are 3 lines associated with the fuel system. Pressure line, return line, EVAP purge line. They more or less route the same way under the car. The top line should be the pressure line, midlle return, bottom EVAP.

Thanks, so if the EVAP line spongy rubber union is not snug (i.e. there's probably a little leak), would that negatively affect fuel pressure and give the impression the fuel pump is not as strong as it should be? If not, what kind of problem might this cause, if any? (The Pressure and Return lines are fine, with a MUCH better quality connector)
