engine swap questions. 3.8l to v8

SS and Firehawk are different trims. SS is more akin to a Trans Am or Ws6, and I have not seen any evidence in regards to the stock tune on an SS or WS6 car adding another 15hp over a z28 over or Formula. I also highly doubt that "tune" doesn't exist in the Firehawk either. Firehawks were rated higher as they were advertised with their Blackwing intake among other things, but a tune was not one of them.

the computer stays with the car, at least it better that way. 96 97 have a crank sensor on the front cover that would be needed for the od2 system. look here http://shbox.com/1/engine_front_diagram.jpg i have a 95 front cover opti setup on my 93.

This is why V6-V8 swaps are such a pain. You end up needing most of the electrical systems from the V8 car.

yes it depends on the car its going in. if its a 96 97 you will want to change the front cover and drill center and add longer pin to your cam, or go with new 96 style cam. then you have vented opti with crank sensor. one thing is you can use the 96-97 front cover on any year. wish i would have went with that so i would have option to use crank sensor with coil on cylinder upgrade. a 93 lt1 will work fine in any 93-95 without changing anything.
