So I've been sitting here reading thread after thread about cold air intakes for the 3.8s. I don't know if there are just too many threads so I haven't run across the right one yet, but I'm not getting many answers regarding my question so I'll ask.
Can you or can you not just make a cold air intake for the 98-02 3.8l Camaros with just tubing, the filter, and couplers? If so, besides making sure to make room for the MAF sensor, what else do I need to look out for? I thought I saw another hose connected in there somewhere.
I just made and installed one on my bro's 05' Cobalt LS yesterday using Spectre parts and was thinking about doing the same with mine at least for now.

What year camaro? If it's 97 and older, my engine did fine with the stock air box with the inlets cut so they were a little larger, lt1 elbow, k&n drop in filter, and a piece of flex pipe to connect to the TB. Was cheap as heck, and it works really well, made sure of that on the dyno. Pic below.
For the later cars, just get a drop in k&n filter, shave the baffles on the lid, and run a flex pipe from the lid to the TB. If I recall there's a silencer in there not worth even looking at.
My cheap intake, haven't found anything better than it for the price.

Its a 99...I just shaved the baffles off the lid and am dropping in a k&n. Now for the piping that leads from the lid to the throttle body..elaborate. Anything that will fit perfectly with the oval end on one side and circle end on the other? Any tips?

I just found this thread from a little while back with suggestions from Darling & Micro. Might try some form of this tomorrow. https://camaroforums.com/forum/93-02-general-41/whisper-lid-51169/
