2001 v6 burning oil, no leaks, no smoke

Camaro 69, I ordered part 560 in the diagram from the stealership today, will be picking it up Friday. Apparently one of the previous owners replaced the pcv and didn't put the seal back in. How could I have known it was missing never having replaced one on a rwd 3.8 before?
Gorn, thanks for the info. That level of oil consumption is ridiculous. I've had frickin high mileage imports over 200k with oil leaks that didn't even use a quart on a 10k oci and my 99 Monte with 130k never lost any. I think my consumption should be less once I get that seal put in.

Bought upper and lower intake manifolds from the junkyard this afternoon. I'm going to be painting the manifolds and valve covers. What else do I need to replace while I've got all this stuff pulled apart, injector o rings and coolant elbows are on order?

Why are you pulling the upper and lower intake? I will agree that a quart of oil every 1000 miles is a bit much a very rare on a new car and I too have owned cars that never used oil but after 30 years of working on cars i would guess 50% of the cars on the road need a quart of oil in 2500 miles.
Also are you sure the PVC o-ring is missing? The normal complaint when that o-ring gets damaged is high idle. Yes the seal will allow oil in the intake but it also lets air in. That air causes high idle I don't see how that seal could let in oil without letting in air.
Upper and lower intake kit should have everything you need. I am not sure all the kits have the plastic elbows but they should be replaced. It would be a nice time to do the water pump and hoses. Are you doing the valve seals also?
Power coating will hold up a lot better then paint

I pulled upper and lower so I could take my time with a thorough cleaning then just put on and reduce my downtime. I figured since I've got vacation time racked up, just take a week closer to summer when it's nice and warm out and go to town. I thought of powder coating instead of painting but isn't that expensive? I could've sworn I've seen aluminum elbows. Or were they just silver plastic? PVC o-ring is missing. Wasn't on the old pcv so didn't know it required one and new one went in without. No high idle though, actually been around 750 in drive when stopped and slightly rough. In trying to figure that issue out found that the crappy alum contacts on the coils were corroded. Will be replacing those with jegs coild with brass contacts and msd wires to go with the red and black look I'm going for.
How hard are the valve seals to replace? Budget currently sits around 700 if that helps any.
