T-5 compatability
ive tried looking on google, but its hard to find my specifics.. and i dont have much experience, if any at all, dealing with borg-warners..
my question is, how universal is the T-5 trans? my friend has one to sell out of a fox body mustang.. it dosent have the bell housing .. it accepts a mechanical operated throwout bearing. thats all i know about it. is it able to match up to a gen 1/LT1 chevy engine small block? i know an aftermarket bell housing will, but do the input shaft lengths, type of throwout (hydraulic vs mechanical), and splines differ from T-5 to T-5?

If you mean a 70's LT1 the t5 can not handle the torque. The other question would be what are you putting it into. You use a bell housing from a camaro you will need a transmission from a camaro. The Camaro bell housing rotates the transmission 15 degs. It think there was some very early mechanical clutch T5 but they have been around so long they there are a few different types of clutch engagement systems even within Chevy. I imagine Ford has many more. Even 4th gens 3.4 and 3.8s are different.
