Default Help in decision

Got a 02 v6 camaro ,planing on getting new rims and tires. I like the 05 corvette 17x9.5",plan on using a 275/40/17 tire. Will it rub anywhere with the extra 1/2" compared to 17x9?
Are z28 sway bars bigger than in v6? This would be easy upgrade.
I like the plush ride but wouldn't mind a little stiffer in corners, the tires should help a lot going 17" compared to the 235/55/16 BFGs ,then I saw that zs ran a 245/50/16" tire, How much better is it compared to the bfg ?

I would recommend a search on Google Images for Wheel and tires sizes. What rims fit and work the best is well documented across many sites. I believe the 05 vet is a C6 and had 19"/18" rims on it. I think you may want the C5 1997-2004 rims that are 18"/17". You will not see huge difference in the 10CM difference in width of the 245's vs 235's. I believe the 245's had a Z rating, meaning they were designed to spin faster. This allowed Z28's to have a higher setting on the speed limiter. Honestly a good 235 would out preform the factory installed 245. The factory installed tires are middle level tires at best. Wider is better on dry roads. I guess what I am saying is a quality tire will out preform a cheap tire that is 10cm wider.

Yes, less side wall means ruffer ride. The side wall number is also based on the width so a really wide 40 tire would be taller then a narrow 40. The 40 is a percentage of the width. So if you have a 10" wide tire and it was a 40 series then the side wall would be 4". At this point we are talking feel, I have been told you can not feel the difference between 40's and 50's and I have been told it is a world of difference.

The SS stock sway bar setup is nice upgrade. I believe the V6 sway was 28MM the Z28 is 30mm and the SS was a hollow 32mm. At one point you could buy the GM hollow bar on ebay for 80 bucks. I can say from personal experience the 32mm upgrade is noticeable but you want to do the Z28 rear bar. the SS and Z28 have the same rear bar. I am told by the racing guys not to go bigger on the rear bar unless you are going all out racing with a rock hard suspension.

Thank you ,some good info I needed. The 245 is z rated that's a plus because I really like the chrome 10 spoke 16x8 rims on it now.
The 17s I saw were repops far 4 th gen camaros, the 16s are pricey 1200 dollars plus the center caps 40 dollars per! Repops are 7-800.
I just put set of snow tires on the 16x8s I have, reason I'm buying new rims, not swapping back and forth every year.
Hollow sway bar is trick,I will go that route after tires.
