Default new here and a new project

First off let me say hello, I was looking for a good forum where I could get some advice while going through my project and everyone I saw replying to posts here seemed well versed and willing to help anyone even a noob like myself.
So thanks for actually having a nice professional looking forum, now onto the fun part of my discussion. I just bought a 94 3.4? I believe v6 has a smashed rear window in the hatch, needs a new ignition cylinder and a fuel pump, those are the only known issues right now, so haven't been able to start the car yet till I replace 2 of the 3, then ill get a good listen and fill you all in on the problems, but until then was hoping to ask about my plans for the car see all your suggestions and make sure my ideas are solid and doable.
I'm thinking of switching to a carbed 350 mostly because I know carbs better the efi, wanna lower the ride height so she practically sits on the ground but I want a nice classic muscle look to it by adding some nice bigger tires on the rear and some like 14s on the front, so anyone that knows tires and how to measure and everything ill have lots of questions when I get to that point, I wanna add a posi rear end or figure out a way to convert, and I'm thinking how to fab room to put in a 5 speed manual over the automatic that's in it now.
Not really a lot of things mechanically of course ill add to the list when I decide if I'm doing a motor swap or not and as I find more problems or things I wanna tweak

Welcome

Make sure you research the swap part of your plan, right here in this section there are several threads that go into some detail about swapping in either the factory LT1 or a carbed Gen 1 small block. For 98% of the people who ask it is way to big/expensive of a project.

I would hit up craigs list or a "you pull it yard" for the rear hatch. You should be able to find them cheap since they rarely break. I think most cars that head to the scrap yard still have them on. For the fuel pump search "Hatch method" in the 4th gen section. It can be a 30 minute job. Talking someone thru the key cylinder replacement over forum is not going to be easy.

Check out the manual section at the bottom of the main page. I think there is a link to find a PDF of the GM shop manual there.

Just a quick FYI: You can not go to a 14" rim. Your front brakes are to large. Most 15" rims will rub but some work. Post single questions in the tech sections and just use this thread for progress update. Don't over whelm members with a bunch of questions in a single post.

Good Luck

Thanks, appreciate all that, luckily before I bought the project I already researched a lot of what I wanted to do. I already know about the trap door for the fuel pump, am actually thinking about getting a hi flow pump and trading out the internals in the assembly for that job. As far as the wheels that is great to know I never thought of the brakes being to big. What tire size front and back would you suggest to get that classic muscle kinda stance? And the rear hatch I got lucky I live in northern Ohio and I have a guy in southern Michigan about 2 hours away that owns camaro parts world I believe he called it, mostly gen 1 and 2 but has a couple 95s I can pull parts off so $125 for the rear hatch don't think that's outrageous. The engine swap would be the most expensive part of my build, that's something I'm gonna wait on, more of a future project for the project. Don't even know what kinda motor I would want yet. But anyways thanks for the reply

Just hop on google images and search using key words. I run stock rims in the winter and 18" in the summer. I like going around corners fast, Bigger rims, less tire, less flex

I paid $5500 for a 2000 LS1 Z28 with 42,000 miles on it. I have yet to see anyone complete a swap to non-standard engine for less then that.

if the engine runs good then i would not say to get out now. however i would recomend you look again at what you are doing and how much you have to spend. i am seeing good 96s with 3.8 here for 3k. one 2000 for 1800 with blown 3.8 that is in really good shape that i wish i had time to deal with. if you want a v8 buy a z28, you will be money ahead. also the 3.8 has more hp than most pre 90s 350 v8s so they got some getup and go. lowering springs are your best path to get her down. you can take the rear spring isolator out and add some thick hose to the spring (aka hose mod) and lower close to an inch, thats just the back though.

Thanks for that craby, I do plan to do lowering springs and then just put in some nice shocks while it's all apart figure save myself some work in the future, as far as the money I have nothing into this yet, the car itself only cost me $300, I went to the dealership and they cut a key for it so didn't need to change the ignition lock cylinder that cost me $35, got a rear hatch for $125 and a fuel pump for $35 so for $495 I've got her running and legal and with all pieces in place, the saved me a lot of money to put in other places, my entire budget for this build is 5k, only considered doing a pre 90s v8 because I run dirt track have a bunch of spare parts laying around and could do it for relatively cheap.

Rockauto.com, Avoid airtec like it has the plaque. I put three in the first 30 day. I glad my local parts store carried them. That would played out months over the net.
