Default My 2000 Z

This is a thread about my cars progress.

Well I made the plunge into the LS world today (7/18/2015). I picked up a 2000 Z28 off of Craigs list. After driving my 1996 with a 1/4 million miles on it, wow this thing is tight. I bought it from the original owner. It was a middle aged women. They where asking $6500 for it. The body had a lot more dings and scratch's then you would expect for 45K. She parked the car outside at her dads place of business for several years. When I started to ask question about the maintenance she knew nothing, lol Her Husband said hop in, we drove right to the local dealer. He get out, they knew his name. He said ask them we just do what they say. They showed that as of 6 month ago everything was up to date, But they did tell me there was a air flow code last inspection, they cleared it and it has not come back.

Because of the scratch and code I offered $5500 we settled on $5700. I didn't steal it but I am happy

Rims and rear spoiler installed. Hood and seats are next. I will wait for my son-in-law for the hood swap. It just too bulky and I have no faith in local help .

Well it have been a few weeks. The only issue I have is a lifter tap cold. I think a few mobil 1 oil changes will fix that. I am also getting a code for the cold air pump not flowing air. Since I plan on headers that will eliminate that anyway I am not fixing it. I am averaging 25 MPG, I was hoping for a little better. When I do the headers I do plugs, wires and o2s. Maybe it will get a little better. The gear must be pretty tall. At 65 MPH I am showing just under 1500 RPMs.

I don't think I am going to lower it, It ride so nice I don't want to mess it up. It still has that new car feel. I am going to install a 32mm swap bar and a aluminum Drive shaft just because I have them.

Chrome was looking ruff, it had some curb rash and other damaged areas so I decided to Plastic dip the wheels. I am really happy on how the turned out.

looks great gorn!

liter tap and/or piston slap is very common with those motors on cold starts, but I'm sure you're gonna love the power the ls1 has!!

I still need to do the back brakes, I have the power stop stuff to do it and I need to do a new AC compressor next weekend. I know it would look better with a drop but I am not ready to give up the comfy ride.
