I purchased 3" lt peacesetters and I found a Y pipe that will work with those, that way I wont have to move my fuel lines. For my electrical I am making some diagrams with autocad and re-using part of the old wiring harness. I have a small panel with 3 switches to control fan, fuel pump, ignition and a start button. I will then have to purchase an extra switch for my torque converter lock up. I am using a 700r4 for transmission, I figured it was going to be easiest to use that since it is just like using a l460e but without the required computer. I plan on having the car up and running some time in august. I wish i was able to dedicate more time to it, but I am usually only able to spend about half a day on saturdays and half a day on sundays.

/ why use a y pipe with I am guessing such a powerfull motor ,with my set up long tubes pasetter its so simple 2 10 ft runs that bean around the axle ,I put a heat shield near the fuel lines ,if you run 2 into one into 2 you will get a lot of vibration an lose power ,what kinda hp tlbs ,an its 383 of 350.,i am a confued with the old part of thread in there ,I have 4 hangers al weled right in ,the exuast is very simple but works great

That is dependent on size. I bet my HP when I had duel 2 1/2 exhaust is the same as my single 3 inch. Though the duel did sound better.

for me better all around performance. better with the carbed engine ,an the sound is better I had to much noice in the car ,it was shakeing to much to vibration from the exhaust itself now it purs ,an the sound is outside ,the other set up much much hotter to ,more heat comeing from under the car like night an day,yes I don't think a half inch makes much diffrence mine is 3 from the end of the header to 2,5

Close-ish, but not quite. The volume (pi x r2) of a 2.5" pipe is 19.6" x 2 pipes = 39.2"
A 3" pipe is 28.26".
A 3.5" pipe is 38.47".
So, if you want one pipe with the same flow volume as two 2.5" pipes, you want a 3.5" pipe.
But yeah, duals do sound better.

i almost went with a single muffler dual ,but desided this way ,now no 45 bends to go around side to side ,or the cat thats filled with stuff that holds back air an power ,+ the straight runs I think makes all the difference for my set up

I was actually planning to go from the headers to a single 3" the 383 should be making around 450ish, and larger exhaust doesn't necessarily mean more power it needs to be large enough to let the exhausts gases go through freely but not too large because otherwise the flow is going to lose velocity which would result in a power loss. I am going to get an opinion form the exhaust shop in town, but (correct me if i am wrong) usually the motor makes more power when the flow from both sides of the motors meets like an x or an h connection instead of a true dual. Something like that would be pretty seweet but would require more work and money that I am willing to put in, I rather keep it simple and cheap. Can you guys post pics of your set ups please?

Yes, an X pipe can help scavenged a little more power and if the pipe is too large it will not work as well. If you do not have an X pipe then "to large" does not matter.

my guy told me not realy the x pipe .for what you may pay for it ,it just meens the right side comes out on the left side on the rear an the right comes out on the left, all that matter are straight runs an headers ,again with the longtube paseters with 3inch outlet to 2,5 ,is not to big though l;t1 headers may not work for you ,with my car the only thing I did lt1 was the headers ,opposite turning power streering pump ,I did after my first set of wires were to close to manifolds I got a kit can cut your own to length ,an the looms are like 2,5 inch to keep right away from the headers now ,happy with that ,yes with your exhaust you want to be careful there not to low ,I am putting air shocks on mine an we will tweak the cans later ,they just barley drag every now an then ,the shocks should help stiffin it up ,with these builds, sometimes it just do it then modify something later ,to make it better is the norm I plan on changing everything with time ,I needed new shocks anyway ,an will put an air pump in later ,then the front ones

What do you mean 3" to 2.5"? The headers have 1.75 in tubes that collect into a 3" and then it would be 3" all the way to the end. Do you have the car lowered at all? I was planning on getting 1.25" lowering springs but I am a little concerned about ground clearance with that exhaust.
