Default Engine swap 1995 z28 350 to 406

Hello .I will try to keep things simple for now ,I am putting a 406 carberated crate engine ,my mech is good ,an pretty much has the ideas in his head for mach up,i guess the only thing he is not certain about ,? what is needed to properly control my 350 turbo shift points .the lt1 had a sencor built into the engine that sent a signal of sorts to the tranny when converting to carberation ,an old shcool is vacume hose an link of sort ,has anyone done this kinda switch ,its going to be nice when done about 33% more power then the lt1 ,an cheaper then rebuilding up hear in the northeast,he has done manual tranny but not auto thank you will post pics an more info when we get there I do think it will be great conversation car

For starters, for a newbie you're starting fast and hard with the ball breaking. The advice you're getting here is free, so don't complain if you don't like the answers.
You have a mechanic to do the work, but he's stuck? I could comment on that, but won't. Would you like to start over and get some constructive help?
Your first post says you have a turbo 350, which is vacuum controlled. But your car came with the 4L60E (E=electronic shift). Up/down shifting is partly controlled by the throttle position sensor on the LT1, which will be gone with the new engine. So, you need to have a stand-alone shift controller to handle the shifts and torque converter lockup. That alone will run you between $600-700. One reason a 93 (and older) trans may have been suggested is because those are a 4L60/700R4, which is not electronic shift but controlled by a throttle valve (TV) cable.

? can he use or modify throttle position sencor be added to my car or reuse the one from my lt1 ,?if I did get 93 transmission would the plugins be the same ,like I said it was just frustraiting,an it seem at the price ,of a shifter stop modual ,I might as well put a remanufactured transmission in it ,I know if it was manual it would not be a problem,it was kind the mech who had me mislead with the pcm programmer ,will figure it out sooner then later I hope, hear in the northeast is a seasonal car,so sorry for my jerky ways yesterday there jack ,I know see what you ment ,iwas wrong an can admit it ,set for install next week though ,or mech seems to think so ,so now I see why getting a rebuilt one for 850.00 mabey be the choise ,as I gto 99000. on that one ,though it still works good an was maint

how about a manual valve body. can you get one for a th350 you would have to shift the trans all the time manually.

thanks for that idea I will look into that ,we had talked about that today ,will price some the weekend an some other possibiltys<nice car you got there, yes doing what you are doing in the picture ,smoking the tires an lots of stomping on the gas caused the head gasket to leak, when I I got the car it did not leak a drop of oil I kinda felt the seals were getting old,an had the thought about a crate engine, the tranny seal was replced an looked good an shifts good still, thoug I got a feeling will be moveing to drive train next year ,going to do the front a rear u joint an gear oil along with the engine next week,an babey it for the rest of the year ,breakin nice an easy first 1000.change oil ,then probley find the next weak link, some of the lt1 engines held up better then others I think the fact that the car Is still so mint ,with the low miles ,its was just age I think ,

looks like they sell the manual valve body summit raceing $157.00 then there is the manual valve body shift kit probley just for those, though they do say manual shifting ,I will bring this to the mechs attention Monday the manual valve body seems the way to go ,less work mabey .oh going with all serpentine pulleys on the front of the motor ,they got some jazzy chome cover up parts for the Camaro even though I am switching I got to say the lt1 it a butt ugly motor but they make every chrome peace known to man to cover it up,just wont need the ones that cover up my new engine
