Project Updates
Hi everyone! Sorry for not posting any updates lately but I have been busy and was unable to do much. A few weeks ago I finally started back up, I got a new radiator off of ebay. Its a 3 row aluminum radiator for a 90s corvette with tanny cooler. I still have to make some good mounts for it since the stock mount wont work with it. I also got some LS1 fans and a fan controller. I will be finishing up the wiring for the fans tomorrow. Last week I also got the new control arm bushings for the front a arms. Ill get those in tomorrow also.
About 3 weeks ago I started the motor for the first time. Set my timing around 20 deg, and initially i was having issues with fuel pressure. The pump was pressurizing but was not getting a vacuum from the engine so the engine kept dying. So i hooked up the mechanical fuel pump to make sure there was nothing wrong with the engine and it ran flawlessly. Then i decided to put the 2 pumps in series with 2 regulators the first one after the in tank pump with a return (to avoid putting too much pressure through the mechanical pump) and the second one (no return) after the mechanical pump to stabilize my pressure at 5.5psi. Seems to be working well so far. The engine is very loud tho since I do not have a full exhaust system hooked up yet (just headers).
I am getting a piece made from work to mount the switches inside the center console, that should make it look pretty clean.
Now the next step is to get new coils and tires. I have 9.5X18 rims with 40 mm offset and would like to throw 245s in the front and 285s in the back. With the 285s If I put on 15 mm wheel spacers the tires will be 10.5 mm closer to my suspensions than stock, do you guys think that will be an issue? Also I was planning on getting lowering springs only about 1-1/4", BMR makes a set for 209$ but id like to make sure that everything is going to fit before I spend a bunch of money on it!

Hi everyone. I have been offline for a long time, the car has been sitting in storage for almost a year now since I had to move to another state for work. I am starting to plan things out to have it finished this summer, and one of the things that I still haven't figured out is what to do with the exhaust. Right now I have the long tube peacesetter headers with the 3" collectors, and then its necked down right at away to 2.5 to some 40 series mufflers to tone it down a bit. I would really like to have a full exhaust system but I dont want to sacrifice ground clearance.
Has anyone modified the floor of the car by the driver side to be able to run the exhaust up about 1" so that it does not hang low below the frame? I am making around 500 hp and plan to add nitrous later on, so I dont really want to run a small exhaust system that is going to kill all my power. What do you guys think?
