window relay ??

96..just picked it up...driver window not going down..when i hit the switch there is a sound coming from under the dash from the area behind and beneth the radio.there is the same faint intermitent<sp>sound when operating the passenger window which goes down veeeeery slow..i am hoping against hope that i can replace a relay insteadof the window motor( if a relay even exists...thx in advance for your advice,,,,ugly

I'm having the exact same problem on my girls firebird, and by the looks of it... it seems that not many people know what it's about... dang it... hope we can get the answer....

if that window is the only one not going up and down, its the motor, or maybe even a short in the wiring. My 4 door went out one window at the time.

Replace the motor. Sign of motor that will soon need replacing is the window going up slow. Sign of motor needing replaced is window starting to go up/down then stopping after a few seconds or not working at all. Window motor switches can also cause the windows to not work at all or only in one direction but since you say you are hearing the relay click. I am guessing the switch is good.

^^^ agree motor is most likely shot. longshot would be the body control modual. is there any other strange things goin on? just noticed, this is a old thread.
